The Home and Overseas Support Group’s role is “to encourage the Parish to support in its widest sense the mission of the church” by publicising and holding fund raising events. These are mainly austerity lunches to benefit various charities and in response to emergency appeals.
Representatives from the various charities that we support are invited to preach in church or to give presentations from time to time.
A Curry Supper is usually held during Christian Aid Week in May and a Coffee Morning in July, both events to benefit Christian Aid.
At Harvest Festival the Church collection and lunch proceeds also go to Christian Aid, also foodstuffs donated by local Primary School children and the Church congregation are distributed between two local charities.
At Christmas the Church collections from carol services are shared between Christian Aid and St. Richard’s of Chichester Christian Care Association – a local charity providing food and shelter for the homeless.
